Nor Fishing

Nor-Fishing is one of the world’s largest and oldest trade shows dedicated to fishing technologies. First held in 1960 and traditionally taking place in Trondheim, Norway, this event has established itself over the decades as an essential hub for the global fishing industry. The trade show brings together all the key players in the fishing value chain:

   - Maritime professionals (shipowners, captains, fishermen).

   - Equipment manufacturers and technology providers (onboard electronics, ship design, fishing gear, and systems for handling and processing seafood).

   - Institutions, researchers, and official delegations from 

The trade show is managed by the Nor-Fishing Foundation (Stiftelsen Nor-Fishing), a nonprofit organization established at the initiative of the Norwegian Parliament and the industry. The foundation also alternates with organizing Aqua Nor (the leading global trade show dedicated to aquaculture). As an organization with no commercial shareholders, all profits generated by the trade shows are reinvested in research projects and initiatives aimed at developing the marine sector.

Modern fishing has become a true knowledge-based industry relying on cutting-edge technologies. Nor-Fishing highlights advances in key areas such as:

   - Environmental sustainability and the energy transition (reducing the carbon footprint, alternative fuels, selective fishing).

   - Electronics and navigation (sonar systems, automation).

   - Vessel and floating infrastructure design.

   - Traceability and processing (optimization of the cold chain, value creation from byproducts to minimize waste).

The Unique Features of the Event

   - An on-water exhibition: Thanks to Trondheim’s location on the fjord, the show offers a vast on-water exhibition area (spanning from Skansen Harbor to Brattøra Basin, covering nearly 20,000 m²). This allows visitors and buyers to view and test fishing vessels and floating facilities directly in their natural environment.

   - An international dimension: The event regularly attracts thousands of visitors (approximately 15,000 to 20,000 participants, depending on the edition) from more than 50 countries.

   - A forum for discussion and conferences: In addition to the trade show, Nor-Fishing hosts numerous seminars, summits, and political or scientific debates focused on sustainable ocean management and the future of fishery resources.
